It is no suprise that our families and children are being harmed by paternity fraud.  Think about this…  In a Woman’s Day Poll over 50% of women surveyed stated that they would willfully lie about who the father of their children is in order to collect child support.  30% of all potential fathers named by the mother and DNA tested in the US are found to NOT be the real dad.. was found to not be the father of the child.  Having no recourse for victims of paternity fraud is designed into the system by the State.  If you (or your son, brother, husband) is administratively assigned to be “the dad” then they will pay… forever.  And the damage inflicted on marriages, families, the health of the victim, his family, and the deceived children themselves is preventable and unnecessary.

And it seems that there is no help in sight.  Pleading to Legislatures to put truth and justice into the system falls on deaf ears.  Federal funds are distributed to States for every child support case they process and manage.  As long as they can name anyone and make them pay the State government gets the benefit of Federal money.  There arn’t support groups, financial assistance, counseling, or any other help available to the families who are paying for children they had no part in bringing in to this world.  “But what about these children?” is a common rebuke we hear.  Well, what about these children?  since these childrens mothers either have no idea who fathered them, or they have decided to lie about it, they will never know their true family medical history.  They are emotionally damaged due to the lie their mother constructed for them to live.  This cannot be fixed by simply stealing money for them.  Only by honoring the real truth can.

The only person benefiting from this fraud are these mothers that either chose to lie, or simply doesn’t know, who the real dad is.  The situation is definantly anything but in the interest of the child.    The States think that by forcing these men to pay child support they are also enforcing the already established father/ child relationships.    But in most of the cases we have reviewed the men are either not in contact with the children, the mothers are preventing contact, or the victim of paternity fraud is in another city or State.  There is always a few that may have chosen this.  There are many thousands of cases where the only objective of these mothers is to get money. They do not believe that having a father in their child’s life is important and even if they do they are ignoring the real father of the child.  Children are inflicted with damage that will never heal when they discover that the person their mother told them was their father isn’t.    Then they also have the stress of wondering who is their father and where do they really come from.  All due to their mother either lying, or simply not knowing who her childrens father is.

Looking at the real children of this same man….  Their entire family environment is suddently changed to one of stress, financial hardship, and depression due to an unfair child support system.  These children will suffer emotionally, physically, and financially their entire lives. These children live with their real parents in many cases and are see firsthand the hardship and stress that their parents suffer due to paternity fraud.  The hardships of this are something they should not have to suffer.  They see that committing fraud and lying pays.  What message is it that we are sending to these children?  Allowing the continuation of paternity fraud in the age of DNA testing is not in their best interest.

We need to think of our children and stop this injustice.  We need to make a positive example in Missouri and show every other State that paternity fraud will not be tolerated here.  We need to put a stop to paternity fraud in Missouri and the whole country.  Our children cannot afford less.
